If you’ve been unable to lose weight through diets alone and are not interested in invasive weight loss surgery, then you may qualify for the AUDACITY Clinical Study. The study is evaluating the Allurion Gastric Balloon – an investigational device for weight loss that does not involve surgery or incisions.
If you qualify and choose to join the AUDACITY Study you will receive study-related care at no cost, and will also be compensated for you time and travel to attend follow-up visits at your local study center over a 12-month period. These visits are an important part of the study, and are designed to keep you on track with your personalized weight loss program.
The Allurion Balloon is an investigational gastric balloon for weight loss, currently being offered at select U.S. centers through the AUDACITY Clinical Study. The Allurion Balloon is designed to occupy space in your stomach to help you feel fuller, eat smaller portions and lose weight. And unlike other weight loss options, the Allurion Balloon requires no surgery, no endoscopy, and no anesthesia.
Getting the Allurion Balloon takes about 15 minutes. The balloon comes in a capsule with a thin tube. You simply swallow the capsule while your doctor takes a quick x-ray to make sure the balloon is in your stomach. Once in place, the balloon is filled with water and the tube is removed, completing the process.
The Allurion Balloon remains in the stomach for about 4 months, serving as built-in portion control while you learn to live a healthier lifestyle with the support of nutritionists, doctors, and nurses. The Allurion Balloon removes itself – no doctor visit is required. After about 4 months, the balloon will empty on its own and pass naturally.
